What's the Definition of Confidence?
Confidence.
We all want more.
We’re all convinced we have less than others.
We’re all constantly chasing ways to “gain” it.
And no wonder it’s the illusive rabbit we’re endlessly pursuing: How can we possibly chase down something we haven’t even properly defined?
So let’s take a step back before we continue chasing a “rabbit” we can’t even describe. We can instantly make the concept of confidence more approachable by recognizing this little-known fact:
Confidence is actually interchangeable with the word “comfort”.
Now there’s a shift in the right direction! Recognizing these two words as synonyms begins propping open the door of understanding. While confident may feel illusive, mysterious, yet alluring, comfortable is that cozy word we can climb into and wrap ourselves in; and yet they are two sides of a coin that buy your way into a club you felt unsure how to access.
The relationship between the two words grows stronger when you think of examples of the women you’ve seen who radiate confidence.
Just picture it.
A woman who is comfortable with who she is, what she represents, and how she chooses to show up in her community is perceived as a CONFIDENT woman. She knows her own mind; she knows how she likes to dress; she decisively accepts or declines opportunities that come her way, and she is not afraid to navigate the world with her own sense of clarity guiding her. Her comfort level with herself and fearlessness in claiming her identity are obvious to those around her.
As you observe her, her confidence will translate as effortless. Her confidence will look powerful, and it will look desirable.
Desirable is an interesting word choice, you may be thinking, so allow me to take a detour to elaborate. Not only will people be attracted to the high vibe energy of a confident woman— which will in turn attract more high vibe people into her circle as like attracts like—but it will also get those people to stop and say, “Oof, that confident look is a vibe, how do I create that for myself?”. This One Confident Woman is now inspiring the other women around her to achieve that level of confidence (which we now recognize as comfort) for themselves.
She inspires a movement, yes Queen!
Now, with a more concrete and visual understanding of confidence, imagine what that would mean for you to finally show up with more of it in your daily life…
Imagine what it would look like to show up with a whole-hearted belief in your Superpowers as a woman, blazing the trail for other women to step into theirs…
Can you see it?! Because I can and, Beauty, it’s giving me chills!
We’ve transformed the definition of confidence from something evasive and vague to something much more approachable and attainable. We’ve even demonstrated what it looks like to observe a woman who truly embodies her confidence.
Perfect.
So how do you actually move closer to “gaining” that confidence?
That’s what I’m going to dive into in the next chapter on this Book of Confidence we’ve begun writing together.
