Sara P's Client Feature: When a Queen Gets Permission to Rule
Sara needed something to look forward to.
Like the rest of the country, she was feeling the effects of emerging from our first stretch of strict quarantine, and she needed to shake off the monotony of constant-pajama-life, and feel beautiful in the process. With everything else feeling chaotic and uncertain, Sara began seeking an experience that would give her a sense of empowerment.
During a chat about her experience before, during, and after her session, Sara described her transition for me:
“I was in this cocoon and I was looking for a way out, and how I could really grow,” she reflected.
Boudoir photography seemed to check all the boxes of the type of experience she was looking for, so she grew more and more curious about whether she could pull it off. She began the great Google search for “Tampa Boudoir Photographers”. When a friend of Sara’s found out that she was on a mission to find the right photographer, she sent her my way. Sara didn’t second guess the forces that brought us together, and she moved forward confidently with booking.
We spent weeks fine-tuning the multitude of ideas that Sara had saved to her Pinterest mood board. She admitted that her thoughts felt scattered, but I assured her that I could find the common thread on her board and tie it all into a cohesive final vision. After studying her mood board, 2 overarching themes came through:
Quirky, mystical, ritualistic vibes
Sensual and romantic with a regal edge
Elements like a mirror, veil/fabric play, and dried florals were props that I suggested we include in her session, all of which I would provide for her. As soon as we defined her two signature looks, Sara’s excitement grew. The vision was taking shape, feeling more like reality and less like a fantasy with each detail that fell into place.
Finally, the day of her session arrived and her anticipation was overflowing!
“By the time the day of the shoot came, it was like looking forward to a big event or a big vacation. Something that you would plan for so long that was finally there and you were gonna get to do it!”
She showed up to the studio bare-faced and ready to get right to it! As the preparations began, the feeling that a magic, artistic experience was about to unfold was undeniable.
“It’s like a blank canvas and you know that you’re about to paint that canvas, so I was very excited!”
As a passionate Disney fan, Sara channeled royal, dramatic princess vibes from the moment she stepped in front of the camera. It was as if her inner Queen had been itching for this opportunity to rule, and all she needed was gentle guidance and enthusiastic encouragement from me to do it!
We had an amazing time together incorporating a tiara, dancing in a dramatic tulle skirt, and styling a romantic yet witchy set of dried florals, mirror play, and tulle fabric to finish it off.
When all was said and done, Sara was surprised to report that the nerves she had expected during her session finally kicked in as she awaited her gallery viewing.
“I was really nervous for my reveal, because that was my first boudoir shoot that I had done and while we had so much fun…. even though I felt beautiful and I could see that I looked beautiful… I was worried that they weren’t going to look good.”
Her self-doubt didn’t stand a chance against what she actually saw on the day of her Gallery Reveal.
“Once you saw your images, what happened?” I asked as my final question.
“I was SHOCKED!” she exclaimed.
And the sentiment bore repeating!
“I was shocked. It’s one of those things where words come out of your mouth without even planning… Things like, Oh, so spicy!”
She continued, “It was more than just taking a pretty photo. It had a mood, it had an emotion, it had a depth to it. It just blew me away. It put me on this high that I was like, I hope this never goes away!”
Her lasting impression was this:
“I feel really great. I feel great to be a woman, I feel great to be me, I feel great to feel beautiful. There were these beautiful pieces of artwork that had me in the center… I wanted to scoop them all up and keep them for myself, and be so proud of what I accomplished that I didn’t even recognize was in me to do.”
Not only did Sara rule during her first session, she has had two more sessions since then to continue nurturing and tapping into her inner royalty, and I don’t see her quitting on that royal vibe any time soon!
